Beaconhouse Anthropometric Study: City wise Trend Analysis
The Beaconhouse Anthropometric Study 2021 conducted by the Research & Development Cell, Education Department, presents an exploratory analysis of average height and weight variations among students (ages 3–18) across major cities in Pakistan where Beaconhouse campuses operate. The dataset was analyzed by age group and gender, providing comparative visualizations of growth trends to identify regional and demographic differences in physical development.
The study combines descriptive statistics and trend-line analysis to chart both average height and average weight trajectories for male and female students across cities such as Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Abbottabad, and Nowshera. Patterns reveal that height and weight metrics vary considerably across cities, reflecting both regional diversity and data inconsistencies—particularly in younger age groups (3–6 years) where sample sizes were smaller.
Overall, the findings show upward growth trends in several urban centers (e.g., Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi), while some smaller cities display fluctuating or inconsistent patterns, likely due to limited sample data or localized environmental factors. The study acknowledges the exploratory nature of this analysis and suggests the need for standardized longitudinal data collection to better understand anthropometric differences by region, gender, and age group.
This appendix serves as a foundational reference for subsequent health, nutrition, and well-being studies within the Beaconhouse network and contributes to evidence-based decision-making for student health initiatives and school-based nutrition policies.
