Need-based and Generic Teacher & Leadership Training
This report, prepared by the School of Education – SE-EDx, Beaconhouse National University (BNU), presents findings from a system-wide data collection exercise conducted across the Beaconhouse School System (BSS) in 2024 to identify need-based and generic teacher and leadership training priorities. A total of 348 responses were received from teachers, coordinators, and school leaders, reflecting the collective professional development interests of educators across regions and grade levels.
The survey aimed to guide BNU’s collaboration with BSS through the SE-EDx training platform to design targeted professional development offerings. Analysis of response trends revealed strong demand for contemporary and transformative learning areas such as Transforming Learning through AI (34.5%), Project-Based Learning (32.8%), Designing Engaging Learning Spaces (31.9%), Special Educational Needs (29.6%), and Teaching for Critical Thinking (28.4%). Leadership-related themes, including Educational Leadership: Styles and Choices (27.8%) and Leadership for Educational Transformation (27%), also ranked highly, reflecting the growing need for capacity building among school heads and middle leaders.
The report proposes a multi-stage implementation plan, including:
Prioritizing high-demand training topics in collaboration with BSS leadership;
Delivering sessions during winter break 2024 or on weekends to maximize participation;
Utilizing the SE-EDx platform for centralized scheduling, online coordination, and blended delivery;
Extending regional flexibility by enabling BNU faculty to conduct trainings in other cities;
Ensuring trainer evaluation and feedback reporting for continuous quality improvement.
Looking ahead, SE-EDx envisions establishing long-term certification, diploma, and degree pathways specifically designed for BSS educators to ensure sustained professional growth. Hosting these sessions on the BNU campus will further deepen the partnership between the two institutions, offering access to university-level learning environments, faculty expertise, and future academic progression opportunities.
The report concludes that this collaboration between BNU and BSS will help foster a culture of continuous professional learning, innovation, and educational excellence, aligning with shared institutional goals for impactful teacher and leadership development across the Beaconhouse network.
